History/Origin Summary:

The origin of the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog dates back to the 1800s.  Developed in the Alapaha River region of southern Georgia by PaPa Buck Lane, the breed was initially used as a plantation watchdog and cattle dog.  The Alapaha is a descendent of the oroginal Bulldogs that came to the U.S. in the 1700s.  The breed was established in 1986 in the working dog category.

 

Height: Males: 22 - 25 inches             Females: 20 - 23 inches

Weight: Males: 70 - 100 lbs                Females: 50 - 70 lbs

Head: Boxed

Eye Color: Any

Ears: V-shaped fold

Muzzle: Medium lenght 2- 4 inches

Neck: Muscular

Shoulders: Very muscular with wide blades

Body: Square, deep chest

Legs: heavy bone and strong
